MEET THE DOCTOR
“I believe both the patient and doctor need to communicate about the basic mechanisms behind the medical problems that we face. A deeper understanding often allows a more productive discussion of options and provides the motivation for applying treatments in the most effective manner.”
Dr. Sandberg joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in 1995. He is board-certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. Dr. Sandberg cares for his allergy patients at Kelsey-Seybold’s Main Campus, Clear Lake and Fort Bend and Medical Diagnostic Center locations.
Professional Background
In 1987, Dr. Sandberg graduated from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in North Carolina. He completed his residency and fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in 1992. After fellowship, he continued working at Baylor College of Medicine as assistant professor until joining Kelsey-Seybold in 1995.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Sandberg sees both children and adults of all ages with a wide variety of allergy and immunologic problems. Hay fever symptoms and asthma often have an allergic cause that benefit from targeted treatment. He also has experience in treating problems without defined allergic causes, such as hives.
Publications
While working at the medical school, Dr. Sandberg published many articles in a variety of areas such as latex allergy, immunodeficiency and inflammation. He also wrote several book chapters in both Allergy and Immunology textbooks.
Professional Associations
Dr. Sandberg is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, Texas Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Society and Greater Houston Allergy and Asthma Society.
Hobbies and Special Interests
As a mathematics major, Dr. Sandberg spent three years after graduation teaching high school math in Benin, West Africa with the Peace Corps. That background allows him to occasionally understand how to solve the random high school math homework problems that one of his daughters might show him.
