Meet The Director

Thank you for your interest in the Baylor College of Medicine/Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Family Medicine Residency Program.   Since 1998, the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic has had the privilege of preparing some of the most dedicated and talented resident physicians for clinical practice, academic careers, fellowship training, and leadership positions in the broad specialty of Family Medicine.

The Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Department of Family Medicine was established in 1985 and has grown to become the largest department in the clinic.  Residents in the program are able to take advantage of the department's active clinical practice and gain practical experience in physician practice management.  Members of the Family Medicine faculty serve as managing physicians, members of the board of directors, committee chairpersons, and medical directors for the clinic.  It is our sincere desire that residents in the program will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to become future leaders in the medical community as well.  The Family Medicine Clinic is housed in the Main Campus facility, a multi-specialty ambulatory care center with full laboratory and radiology support.  Specialty and subspecialty rotations at the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, and Texas Children's Hospital allow close collaboration between the attending physician and the resident (typically, one-on-one) with emphasis on the primary care aspects of the particular specialty.  This integrative educational experience between family medicine and specialty care fosters a mutually respectful environment for residents' learning and professional growth.

In an effort to address the new complexities of health care in the 21st century, our program offers a dual Family Medicine/MBA track in collaboration with the University of Houston C.T. Bauer School of Business.  Baylor College of Medicine/Kelsey-Seybold Family Medicine Residency Program covers the total cost (tuition, laptop, meals, parking, materials, International Business Residency trip) for these selected residents to complete their MBA.  Residents complete their Family Medicine residency in the standard three year period.  The MBA curriculum begins in the third year of residency training.  The dual program adds an additional one year of training to complete the MBA and obtain Faculty Development experience.

We believe that the combination of the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic's busy multi-specialty practice and the rich academic environment of Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Medical Center will afford the motivated resident unparalleled opportunities to become the family physician they want to be.  Again, thank you for your interest and, as always, we are more than happy to address any questions by telephone, email, or perhaps a visit.
